This truck was Dooley's personal ride for years. It's actually a "Phantom" vehicle - that is one that the company should have offered, but didn't.
Dooley and the boys took a late model Chevrolet 1-ton, shortened the chassis and drive line and mounted the 1959 Studebaker body. The bed is where it gets tricky. The inside portion is a long-wide slab-sided version and the little fenders added to it are from a short-narrow bed.
The end result looks just like it rolled off the factory line that way. But, the truck has Chevy 427 V8 power, turbo trans and other GM accoutrements.
Inside of the bed is covered in polished diamond-plate aluminum sheet.
